Why Clamoring for Change
While most media sites present single ideological perspectives (e.g. “liberal,” “conservative,” “moderate,” etc.) that resonate with the perspectives of the people visiting the sites, Clamoring for Change seeks to create a space that welcomes multiple ideological perspectives and that encourages engagement with and conversation across multiple perspectives.
Our site seeks to challenge the “echo chamber” effect of most social media sites. One of the ways our site will do this is by having contributors with diverse ideological perspectives create user content (e.g. blogs, podcasts, op-eds, etc.) addressing contemporary topics/issues. Topics are not assigned to contributors. Contributors are free to submit content on any contemporary topic they desire.
Clamoring for Change is committed to helping move people of differing ideological views beyond hatred and polarization. In order to do that, contributors must model respect and civility within the content they produce. Contributors must refrain from disparaging remarks and personal attacks that belittle and demonize others and that shut down rather than promote conversation.
Written submissions typically run from 400 to 1,200 words, but submissions of any length will be considered. While submissions addressing any topic will be considered, preference will be given to submissions addressing current social issues that generate multiple and often conflicting perspectives.
We have created the following Writing Guidelines to provide contributors with suggestions and tools for writing highly readable blog posts.
Once you have a post ready for consideration, please send your post in plain text (not HTML) in Microsoft Word to “firstname.lastname@example.org,” with “POST: the title” in the subject line. Please only send one submission per email.
Include in the email the focus keyword or phrase associated with your post (see the Writing Guidelines for more information).
If your submission feels like a good fit, you will receive a response within 3-8 days. If you do not receive a response, please try again with a different submission. Once a submission is accepted, you will be asked to provide a publicity headshot photo of yourself and a brief bio that will be attached to your post.
You may be asked to revise your submission in order to make your post stronger or clearer, and your proposed title may be changed before the submission goes live.
Your post may be edited for clarity, grammar, and overall style. If there are any major changes made, you will be asked to review and approve it before it is published.
While contributors are expected to submit their own creative work, the submissions DO NOT need to be exclusive to Clamoring for Change. You may submit work that has been published elsewhere if you are legally permitted to do so. (Please feel free to consult our “Terms of Service” agreement for specific legal/technical information regarding submissions).
AGAIN, because the purpose of this site is to promote change through an understanding of and meaningful constructive conversation across multiple ideological perspectives, your submission should seek to present your perspective WITHOUT attacking and displaying inflammatory disrespect for opposing perspectives.
Thank you for considering being a part of the Clamoring for Change community!
